We really wanted to move house and thought we'd found the ideal home with potential for an extension, but were unsure what it would cost or whether the size we wanted would fit into the space available.   YBC produced a clear and detailed report giving us the options.  This was really valuable as it seems it is now impossible to talk to planners before submitting plans, which was obviously something I didn't want to do before owning the house.

Following moving into our new home we wanted to alter some walls and install heating pipework below the floor.   To employ an architect would have been very expensive and it was difficult to know how to employ what builder to do what without first knowing what was possible for our budget.  Roger gave us all the advice we needed to make some sensible choices.  He even corrected the builders who were constructing a new external wall without the correct insulation.  Excellent service.

My house failed it's survey as the surveyor said it was damp, which lost the sale of my house. I contacted YBC for a second opinion as I did not feel the house had a damp problem. When I explained to Roger how the surveyor had measured the dampness with a moisture meter, Roger explained that he had been using it in a way that it was not designed for. I was given assurance that my house was not damp and how to deal with it in the future.

After asking roofers to look at a leaking cast iron gutter to the front of my house and only responding with the entire gutter needed replacing, YBC found that it was only a leaking joint that was easily fixed.  A support lintel was also found to be rotten and this was replaced too.  I also got an assessment of my slate roof and when I need to consider having work done.
